Workforce development

Support and development for our staff

A crucial part of our Social Work Academy is the development of the workforce. By supporting staff to learn and grow throughout their careers, we ensure the best care for our children and families while providing a rich and supportive working environment for our team.

Supporting you throughout your career progression

We have embedded a learning culture across children’s social care that focuses on providing flexible learning opportunities, giving you the time to learn and apply your learning while having access to mentors, Practice Champions, and senior practitioners when needed.

Student placements

We offer structured student placement opportunities to students studying for a Social Work qualification. These placements provide an opportunity to experience social work first-hand and allow you to apply the theory you are learning and gain valuable work experience.

For students on placement with North East Lincolnshire Council, we provide wrap-around support and an allocated Practice Educator and regular check-ins and workshops by the Academy team.

ASYE Programme

We offer an Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) designed to support newly qualified social workers and help them develop and improve their practice and coordinate their learning after university.

Practice improvement

Our whole training programme has recently been reviewed and enhanced with a comprehensive Practice Programme covering all elements required for social work practice. Designed to deliver training in a variety of different formats, including;

  • Workshops
  • Teacher-led sessions
  • Online learning
  • Lunch and learn sessions

Our social workers are provided with a personal development plan, which helps you grow as a practitioner, shaping your career in social work with tailored training and development.

Continuous Professional Development (CPD)

We pride ourselves on the succession and progression of our workers. We aim to identify with you what your future career goals are and devise personal development plans to help you achieve them. We offer a comprehensive training package at varying levels of expertise to enable your continuing development throughout your professional journey. This includes both statutory training and bespoke workshops held in line with service demand.
